Youth Environmental Volunteers Training

Innovation Ability Training Class of One Thousand Youth Environmental Messengers to Tackle Climate Change was held in Hangzhou from Dec. 14 to Dec. 15, 2013, which is co-organized by Center of Environmental Education and Communications of Environmental Protection Ministry and Center of Environmental Education and Communications of Zhejiang Province (CEECZJ). The training class is aimed at improving the knowledge of youth environmental volunteers’ to tackle climate change, promoting the active participation of youth environmental messengers to tackle climate change, enhancing youth messengers’ environmental leadership and promoting public participation in addressing climate change. 141 youth environmental volunteers from Zhejiang Province attended the training, and Hong Shaoxian, director of Communication Office of Center of Environmental Education and Communications of Environmental Protection Ministry, and Pan Linping, director of Center of Environmental Education and Communications of Zhejiang Province, attended the opening ceremony.


Dr. Feng Shengbo, Energy Research Institute of National Development and Reform Commission, made a keynote report themed as Climate Change: Science Cognition and Response Measures, combining with his long-time experience of participating in international negotiations on climate change, and introduced the scientific principles and the status quo of climate change and new measures taken by China in response to climate change with detailed data and classic cases.


Director Hong Shaoxian, starting from the eight public pollution incidents, analyzed human cognitive processes of environmental protection, described the environmental situation in China, and encouraged the youth environmental messengers to shoulder the historical mission and promote China to take the way of green and sustainable development. The project manager of Center of Environmental Education and Communications of Environmental Protection Ministry made lectures respectively on How to Become a Qualified Youth Messenger, Youth Leadership to Address Climate Change and Teamwork, Low-Carbon Environmental Protection Around Us and Presentation Skills, which explained in detail individual environmental responsibility and actions to take and introduced Greenprint, an online tool to promote low-carbon environmental protection.
